Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele has won the Best Actress in a Comedy (Movie/TV Series) awards at this year’s edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award.
Jenifa, as she is fondly known from the titular character she portrayed had the highest nomination in the eighth edition of the award.
Her movie, Omo Ghetto – The Saga, was the highest ever grossing film in the Nigerian film industry.
Funke Akindele won the AMVCA award in a star-studded event which took place at XXX and was attended by actors and stakeholders in the movie industry.
In her acceptance speech, she urged Nigerians to be focused and that challenges are part of life.
She recalled that she shot the movie in 2020 during the controversy that arose as a result of the party she hosted in her house despite the state lockdown.
Akindele expressed gratitude to her husband and fans for standing with her in support.
