Nigerian actor and producer, Funke Akindele expressed excitement over her NET Honours win on Sunday, June 20. She came top in the Most Popular Actress category at the 2021 edition of NET Honours People’s Choice Awards.
Funke Akindele has enjoyed tremendous success in the past year with her movie Omo Ghetto The Saga, which topped Nigeria box office for seven weeks. It became the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time in its fifth week, grossing ₦480.5 million cumulatively.
She was a strong contender for the Most Popular Actress category, nominated alongside Genevieve Nnaji, Ini Edo, Sharon Ooja and Venita Akpofure.
Reacting to the announcement of her NET Honours win, Funke shared on her Instagram page, “Na God, hard work and my fans bring this popularity!! Chai!! I’m blessed. Thank you @thenetng. Oya #Jenifans, let’s keep keeping on o!!!”
