Okechukwu Ukeje popularly known as O.C. has in recent times made headlines and is fast becoming a fan favourite amongst Nollywood viewers.
We caught up with O.C, winner of the second edition of Amstel Malta Box Office, at the recent premiere of Kunle Afolayan’s ‘Phone Swap’ movie. The Marine Science graduate spoke to NET about the problems he feels are troubling Nollywood.
‘There are a lot of problems facing the industry; first of all, the issue of funding is a major case, because we know that the industry is changing. Now we make better scripts. People are getting better every day. Actors are becoming serious and professional with their works. We are not worried about that (Funding) though we know that funding for the movie and marketing and distribution are major problems. We want to put our money down and at the same time get it back. So we need people who can invest and fund movies. We also need channels in distribution, marketing to be able to get out of this level’, Ukejie explained.
And on the new movies we should be expecting to see him in this year, Ukeje said ‘There is ‘The Awakening, The Visitors, Two Brides and a Baby, ‘Alanposer’ and ‘Confusion’. Good enough we are still working. Just be on the lookout for me!’
