
Born and raised in Sapele on May 22, 1933 to parents who are Urhobo natives, Gamaliel got his first degree from the University of Ibadan where he later became the Pro-Chancellor and Chair of the Governing Board. He also once served in the same capacity in the University of Lagos and the University of Uyo while he has received several honours in numerous Nigerian Universities including Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Benin and Rivers State University of Science and Technology.
A successful businessman, Gamaliel Onosode is the former chairman of Dunlop Nigeria ltd, Cadbury Nigeria PLC, Airtel and many other top firms. The devout Christian also once aspired to be Nigeria’s President under the All Nigeria’s Peoples Party but lost out in the primaries to General Muhammadu Buhari.
His son, Ese Onosode confirmed the death stating that he died at 8:15am today.
