Frank Lampard was awarded an ‘Officer of Order of the British Empire’ (OBE) by the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William on Tuesday, October 27 for his services to football.
The former England and Chelsea midfielder joined 12 Years A Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor and others being honoured at the inauguration ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Lampard, who began his career at West Ham, was Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer with 211 goals before leaving England, after one season with Manchester City, to play Major League Soccer for New York City.
Lampard said it was an ‘incredible’ and ‘humbling’ experience to receive the OBE.
The football star attended the event with fiancée, Christine Bleakley and his two daughters.
