According to the Sun, the Sunderland winger was arrested at his £1.85million mansion earlier today, March 2, 2015, after three unmarked cars, a police van, plain clothes officers and crime scene investigators arrived at his home.
A source close to the football star confirmed the arrest, saying: ‘He has been arrested over claims he has had a relationship with a girl aged 15’ while a spokeswoman from the Durham Police also confirmed the arrest thus:
‘A 27-year-old man was arrested earlier today on suspicion of sexual activity with a girl under 16, he remains in police custody and is helping officers with their inquiries.’
Adam Johnson, who is 27 years old, started his career at Middlesbrough in 2004 before joining Manchester City in 2010 and later arrived at Sunderland on a four-year deal in 2012.
