It seems like the ‘hand of God’ has once again helped football icon Amando Diego Maradona as he escaped serious injury when his car was involved in a collision with a bus on Monday, July 11, 2011.
The 50-year-old footballer turned coach was riding with his girlfriend Veronica Ojeda on his way to visit his ill mother when Veronica who was driving crashed into the side of a bus near his Buenos Aires home.
Maradona and Veronica were both taken to the hospital. Maradona was treated on the knee while Veronica had her hip checked out.
‘The two are in a perfect condition, they’ve hardly suffered any injuries and they came to the hospital by themselves as a precautionary measure‘, hospital director Oscar Sico told local television.
The 1986 World cup winner became head coach of the Argentina National team in November 2008, and held the job for eighteen months, until his contract expired after the 2010 World Cup.
