Who remembers the musical duo of Fellyx and Mozzyx who thrilled us with their pop songs and dances moves back in the early 90s?
Well, one half of the duo, Moses Ikomi is critically ill. He has been diagnosed with chronic kidney failure and some other complications, such as liver and heart inflammation.
Moses has reportedly been undergoing dialysis three times a week since December 2011. The current doctor’s report states that both his kidneys have packed up, which means he needs a kidney transplant urgently.
‘About two years ago. I was first admitted to a Lagos hospital, from where I was transferred to another to get life support. So, while that was going on, I knew that I would need a kidney transplant’, Ikomi said in an interview with PM News in August 2011.
At this point, doctors say it has become too risky to keep undergoing dialysis, which has been aiding his body mechanism.
Moses, a musician and outstanding performer as part of the duo Fellyx and Mozzyx, made headlines on TV and radio. They released three albums on the then Polygram and now Premier Music label.
‘Then, we did not make money from music, but we were very popular and did not have money, but later, an opportunity came and we were offered a marketing job by an outfit called ESPN. I worked with the company for 11 years’, Moses said.
Moses later quit his job due to personal reasons, and tried making a comeback into the music industry as a gospel artiste. He was to release his new single ‘Trust in Jehovah’ – a spinoff of Michael Jackson’s ‘Wanna be starting something’, but it is unclear if he did.
Moses and long-time partner Felix Erimokhae go way back. Felix’s brother Victor Erimokhae adopted Moses into their family after his parents dumped him, and was their primary sponsor throughout their reign, as he sheltered them and paid for their upkeep. Moses says these days, Felix has no time to record, but still sings every day.
Moses needs your help as he is urgently due for a kidney transplant and other treatments in India.
He is asking Nigerians, friends, colleagues and well wishers to contribute to this cause financially, and in any other way.
