Nigerian motivational speaker Fela Durotoye is going to attempt to break three world records on Saturday, November 24, 2012.
Durotoye will attempt to do this with the reading of his book ‘17 Secrets of High Flying Students’ at the Gemstone Global Reading festival, scheduled to hold in 17 countries and 17 cities.
The festival plans to break three records: the largest book reading event by an author, the largest number of children being read to by an adult, and the largest global reading lesson in different countries simultaneously.
NET has gathered that the organisers plan to register about 50,000 secondary school students for the event.
In a statement, the Gemstone Group project manager, Rotimi Eyitayo said the readings will take place in Nigeria by 12 noon, in Ghana at 11am, South Africa at 1pm, Malaysia at 7pm and Maryland (USA) at 7am.
The event will hold simultaneously in Ghana, Malaysia, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Indonesia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, South Africa, the United States, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, Seychelles, Dubai, Canada, India, and the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the 17 Nigerian cities where the reading will take place include Abeokuta, Calabar, Ibadan, Port-Harcourt, Ife, Abuja, Benin, Enugu, Kaduna, Minna, Owerri and Asaba.
