Former Coach of Super Eagles of Nigeria, Stephen Keshi has lost his wife of many years, Kate, according to reports.
The exact cause of her death is yet to be confirmed but it is believed the late Mrs Keshi, who died in the early hours of Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the coach’s home town in Delta State, had been ill for a while.
The couple got married in 1983 when the former Super Eagles skipper was 21 years old and his wife was 20, during his playing days at the then New Nigerian Bank Football Club.
Keshi, who led Nigeria to qualification for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, which they went on to win, defeating Burkina Faso 1–0 in the final is one of only two people, along with Egypt’s Mahmoud El-Gohary, to have won the Africa Cup of Nations as both a player and a coach.
More details on her death coming soon.
