
David Bowie passed on after an 18-month battle with cancer on Sunday, January 10, 2016, two days after turning 69.
The late English singer’s video for ‘Blackstar’ beat Beyonce‘s ‘Hold Up’, Adele‘s ‘Hello’, Drake‘s ‘Hotline Bling’ and Fergie’s ‘M.I.L.F.$’ to win the Best Art Direction award at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Bowie got four nominations for his music videos, ‘Blackstar’ and ‘Lazarus’, both off his 25th and final studio album Blackstar, which was released on Friday, January 8, 2016, his birthday – two days before his death.
Beyonce became ‘Queen of the VMAs’ last night, Sunday, August 28, when she surpassed Madonna‘s 17-year record for most awards won at the MTV VMAs.

She won awards for Best Female Video, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Direction, Best Choreography, Best Pop Video and Breakthrough Long Form Video for ‘Lemonade’. The singer also won Video of the Year for ‘Formation’.
David Bowie was honoured with the Brits Icon award at the 2016 Brit Awards in London on February 24, which his close friend Gary Oldman accepted the Award on behalf of his family.
