Nigerian actress and model Erica Nlewedim reacted in ecstasy after learning that she had emerged “Most Popular BBNaija Star” for the first time at the NET Honours People’s Choice Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious audience data-based awards.
Erica, who stood out as one of the strongest contenders during Big Brother Naija: Lockdown, clinched the award in a fiercely contested category that included Laycon, Ozo, Nengi and Lilo.
“Thank you so much”, she posted on her Twitter account, reacting to the announcement that she had won the much-coveted award. She also shared the news with her followers on her Instagram stories.
Fans of the 28-year-old couldn’t hide their excitement at the news and made their feelings known on Netng’s social media feeds.
“The way Erica’s wins come back to back needs to be studied”, Lisa, an Erica fan from Namibia, tweeted.
Nwamma, an Abuja-based Elite, stated that Erica was easily Nigeria’s most popular celebrity at the moment.
“No surprises! She’s the most popular Nigerian celebrity of 2021. Anybody who wants to argue can engage their keypad.”
Netng’s unveiling of Erica as Most Popular BBNaija Star at the NET Honours Class of 2021 attracted thousands of reactions on Instagram, with Elites trooping in to celebrate their fave.
“If Erica wasn’t disqualified, she would have clearly won the competition that year”, Ihedioha Anthony, a travel agency executive, wrote on Netng’s Instagram page.
Data for the NET Honours awards were sourced from a comprehensive database of over eight million users who engaged with Netng, Neusroom, Orin and 234Star platforms via the websites, social media accounts, and related platforms within the period from June 2020 to May 2021.
