Franca Sozzani, editor of Italian Vogue passed on in Milan aged 66 after a year-long illness.
Born in Mantua, northern Italy, Franca leaves behind her only son, film director Francesco Carrozzini, who was by her side when she passed away.
Sozzani is one of the great journalists in the fashion industry.
She started her career at Vogue Bambini in 1976 and led the Italian edition of the fashion bible for over 28 years.
She is considered as a generous person and a champion of new talents among journalists, designers and photographers.

Even with her condition, she showed up at the fashion awards in London earlier this month to accept her award for positive change.
Her final Instagram post is of her with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld at the Chanel show in Paris the same week.
Franca was among the first to embrace the rise of reality TV stars, putting Kim Kardashian on the cover of L’Uomo Vogue, which she also edited in 2012.

Rest in peace, Franca Sozzani.
