
Britain’s Duchess Catherine has finally put to bed, several hours after being admitted to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, after going into the early stages of labour this morning.
The Duchess of Cambridge – formerly known as Kate Middleton before her and Prince William‘s nuptials – was taken to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, this morning Monday July 22, 2o13 by car after experiencing the early stages of childbirth.
In a brief statement, Clarence House said: ‘Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labour. ‘The duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.’
Catherine arrived at the hospital around 6am with her husband by her side. The prince – who was also born at the Lindo Wing in 1982 spent the entire time with his wife until their child was welcomed into the world shortly after 4PM this evening.
Catherine gave birth in a plush delivery suite which contains champagne, luxury toiletries and a reclining chair. The suite boasts satellite TV, Wi-Fi, radio and a fresh bouquet of flowers will be delivered every day. It is also fitted with blackout curtains to guarantee total privacy.
The baby – a future king – was delivered at 16:24 hours, at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, west London, weighing 8lb 6oz. A statement from the palace says the duchess and her baby will spend the night in the hospital.
The royal baby becomes third in line to the throne and as a result of changes in the law. The little one’s title will be the Prince of Cambridge. No names have been announced yet.
