Serena Williams has won her fifth Wimbledon title after beating first-time finalist Agnieszka Radwanska for her 14th Grand Slam title.
Williams on Saturday, July 7, 2012 won Radwanska 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 to earn her first major title since suffering a severe foot injury and pulmonary embolism.
She has become the first woman over 30 to win a major title since Martina Navratilova hoisted the Rosewater Dish in 1990.
Nine hours after she stepped foot on Centre Court to win her fifth Wimbledon singles crown, Serena then teamed up with her sister Venus to win their fifth Wimbledon doubles title. The sisters defeated Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka, 7-5, 6-4 in an indoor match that ended just before Centre Court’s 11 p.m. curfew.
Serena and her sister Venus have combined to win 10 of the past 13 Wimbledons.
