Emmy awards winner and TV director, Paris Barclay, has been elected as the new president of the Directors Guild of America, DGA. Paris Barclay who was appointed on Saturday, June 22 is the Director Guild’s first African-American and first openly gay president.
Barclay who has been a member of the Guild since 1992 was elected at the Guild’s National Biennial Convention held at DGA National Headquarters in Los Angeles.
In his statement after his election, the new DGA President expressed his humility to have the honour to serve in the footsteps of the legendary leaders of the DGA like Frank Capra, Robert Wise and Gil Cates.
