Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is set to be released from federal prison several weeks earlier than expected, even as he presses ahead with an appeal challenging his conviction and four-year sentence.
According to records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons cited by Page Six, Combs’ projected release date has been moved from June 4, 2028, to April 25, 2028, shaving roughly six weeks off his time behind bars.
The adjustment follows his acceptance into the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) in November. The intensive rehabilitation initiative allows eligible inmates to reduce their sentences upon successful participation. At the time, a representative for the music executive said Combs was fully committed to the process.
“Mr. Combs is an active participant in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) and has taken his rehabilitation process seriously from the start. He is fully engaged in his work, focused on growth, and committed to positive change,” the spokesperson said.
The revised release date marks the latest change in a turbulent timeline. In November 2025, his projected release was pushed back from May 8, 2028, to June 4, 2028, after he allegedly violated multiple prison rules.
Meanwhile, Combs’ legal battle continues to unfold. In December, he filed an appeal seeking to overturn his conviction or reduce his sentence. Prosecutors responded in February, urging the court to uphold both the conviction and the four-year term.
Combs was arrested in September 2024 after more than 120 accusers, including a minor, came forward with allegations that included kidnapping, blackmail, abuse, and prostitution-related crimes. In October, he was sentenced to more than four years in prison by Arun Subramanian at a New York federal courthouse after being convicted on two counts of transportation for prostitution.
Initially detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, Combs was transferred in late October 2025 to FCI Fort Dix, a low-security federal facility in New Jersey, where he is currently serving his sentence.
In a final twist, his defense team reportedly sought clemency from Donald Trump. Although the US president initially considered the possibility of a full pardon, he ultimately declined to grant clemency in January, leaving Combs to continue his fight through the courts as his revised release date approaches.
