Born and raised in Cameroon, West Africa, controversial pop star, business woman and fashion designer, Reprudencia Sonkey aka ‘Dencia’ has decided to share her feelings about the dreaded Ebola virus disease known in a 10 minute-video she released online.
In the video, teary-eyed Dencia took her time to lecture people on the history and origin of Ebola and give statistics on the number of lives Ebola has claimed since the scourge resurfaced in March this year. She said ‘Ebola is spreading like wild fire and it needs to be contained because it’s just one flight away from you and me, Ebola would kill you faster than cancer, malaria, cholera, typhoid and HIV, but we can contain it, that’s why I’m trying to set up this ‘GoFund’ campaign for us to raise money and help people’.
Dencia, who currently lives in Los Angeles went on to share her personal experience as a sick child who grew up in Africa saying ‘I grew up in Africa and I used to be very sick, by the time I was 16, I had been through 8 medical surgeries, I was fortunate to come from a family that could afford that, I was fortunate to be raised by my grandmother that could make sacrifices for me, but today I’m in a better place, I’m in America, I’m not in Liberia, Ghana, Congo, Sudan or Nigeria and I sort of feel safe, but I know Ebola is a flight away. Growing up in Africa, clean water was a luxury.’
Rounding up her speech, Dencia quoted the bible, saying ‘Mathew 7 vs 7 says ask and you shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall open, together we can help this people Through the Dencia foundation for hope, I promise that I would personally take these things and travel to Africa and go into these small communities and deliver them, because I was raised in the army and in the army we go into the battlefield regardless, and that’s why I would personally put down 250,000 dollars towards helping these people.’
