Kaycee Ichie Oguejiofor has a concise message for Nigerian artistes.
DEAR ARTISTE,
Too many times, when Nigerian artistes move from the Mainland to the Island, they all feel they have graduated from the underground to the mainstream (I’m sorry most artiste think they are bigger than they are).
But truth is, in as much I’m not in support of you trying to devalue yourself and not embrace growth when it comes, in doing so, learn to not forget the ‘small irrelevant’ media houses that pushed you. If they are not relevant or important, I’m sure they’ll have closed down (though some failed to embrace technology when it came).

However, one thing about life is the fact that your little beginnings define you. You run to meet those that didn’t support your growth because you are popular, but when the curve turns downward, they won’t pay attention to you as well.
If our Uncle (Iyanya) who just signed to Mavin can go round basically all the radio stations in Lagos, then who are you to form for some of the Mainland media houses.
Like I said before, even if you are now an Islander and can’t associate with the Mainlanders, biko ensure you have a team in place to always go on your behalf, and you should as well device means to keep in touch.
