Dante of Bayern Munich has revealed that he had to sell his Play Station game console in order for him to achieve his dreams of becoming a professional footballer.
‘Like every Brazilian boy, my dream was to be a footballer. I played on the streets in my neighbourhood, but my family didn’t believe I was going to be a footballer as I hadn’t succeeded in trials at local clubs. They told me I should do something else. But there was something inside me that said I should continue pursuing this dream.’
Not getting any support from his folks Dante took the bold step for any boy of his age and sold his Play Station. ‘My parents said they weren’t going to support me so I decided to sell my games console to buy the bus ticket so I could go and do trials.’
Dante got signed by a local club shortly after and got his big break when Bayern Munich signed him for £5million.
The Brazilian is regarded as one of the best centre backs in the world and winning the UEFA Champions League last season justifies the sale of his game console.
