Dansu Oluwatosin Sunday aka Dansiolin is a 21-year-old violinist. He started his career at the age of 12 and was awarded an MTN Foundation MUSON scholarship in 2018 to study as a violin major. He is a certified ABRSM candidate.
He has attended several masterclasses played with orchestra, chamber, as soloist and quartet. He describes his experience getting the MTN Foundation scholarship, he says, “I felt blessed, lucky and it was a great opportunity for me to be well lectured to showcase my talent to the world and also be certified as well.”
The level of education and tutoring required at the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) does not come cheap. Every year, the MTN Foundation sponsors 30 young Nigerian musicians to study music at the prestigious MUSON School of Music, and in the past 13 years, 330 students have been awarded this scholarship. Oluwatosin continues, “It would have been tough to keep up with the tuition fees, books, and other benefits the MTNF gave me.”
Tosin is one of the 30 recipients of the MTN Foundation MUSON scholarship that recently graduated.
