Officials of DANA Air, operators of the recent crashed aircraft have released an official press statement over the Iju-Ishaga accident. Read below…
The Dana Air family is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of the passengers and crew of Flight 9J-992 of Sunday, June 3, 2012. The aircraft, with Registration Number 5N-RAM, departed Abuja for Lagos with 146 passengers onboard. 1 Dana Air Flight Engineer, 2 Pilots and 4 Cabin Crew were also aboard the flight.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the deceased, and we are doing everything we can to assist them in this extremely difficult time. A 24hr Call Centre service has been initiated and we have also set up an information center at MMA2 to look after their needs and keep them as quickly informed as possible.
An investigation into the cause of the accident got under way immediately, under the guidance of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), who are being assisted by investigators from the U.S. National Safety Transportation Board (NTSB). Dana Air is cooperating fully and assisting the investigation in every possible way.
In accordance with international protocol governing aviation accident investigations, all information about the investigation will come from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. Dana Air will however provide information relating to the flight itself and updates on steps being taken.
Once again, we at Dana Air extend our profoundest condolences.
Jacky Hathiramani

Smart one there, imagine yourself Killed n that plane, Jacky Hathiramani, do u think such a logical n smart briefing would be ok, whatever u think or do, u guys at Dana killed those passengers.
NCAA should stop managing these aircrafts anymore.
Maintenance is very important. Try and stop managing
because life cannot be managed.
Just lyke dat! Wat Nonsense coz u weren’t d 1 affectd!!! Evil set of pple. Fools.
Whether u guyz like it or not, including the present administrative and Jimo ibrahim himself, you are all Bloody Killers and wicked people. All the rubbish u stated will not do anytin †̥ help anyone or wake the Dead. Planes don’t just crash, u guys knew its not good enough †̥ fly but you flew it. God will judge you all accordingly.
What are u guys saying? Were
they the ones that killed those people? Do we not hear cases of same in other developed countries? When last did this happen in Nigeria? Its been long now. Why are u so quick at attacking the govt. Whatever happens to fate and believing d@ nothing happens without God’s knowledge. I await your insults…
NCAA honestly should wake up at their duties and responsibilities. They should know the implication of flouting their responsibilties, which could lead to an ugly incident like the one on ground right now. Pls lets all be guided. May their souls rest in peace, amen.
I am worse than disappointed.
@one random boy, Are you serious?
Every member, of the government, is responsible for this incident.
This airplane had four incidents concerning malfunctioning engines and was over the limit of 20 years in terms of operation. The airline claimed to have had an aviation check three days before the accident though no question was brought up concerning the age of the airplane (it was 22 years old).
There should never be any airplane crash – the government and the operational manager should always be proactive in preventing such. Why should more than 153 lives be lost for any reason? Do you actually believe that this could not have been prevented? If you were given the option to fly Dana air, wouldn’t the memories of the death haunt you on the aircraft(provided you were even brave enough to step into it)?
The mother who lost her husband and three children; the siblings who lost their parents; the give who has become an orphan… what do you have to say to them. “I’m sorry but this is the will of God. The government shouldn’t be blamed because although they were careless other countries have had airplane crashes before so we should have ours also”.
This is a pity! Nigeria will certainly not move forward with this attitude. The responsibility should be taken without averting the blame – the government is responsible. And most of all do not criticize others for mourning when you would have done so yourself, if you were in their shoes.
President Goodluck’s arrival at the scene was useless and unimportant; I’ll rather have seen an attempt to increase the efficiency of the rescue force. The inability to cordon the area and restrict it from the public was a disgrace. And Dana’s statement is dispiriting. Their license should be revoked and this decision should never be altered. If the government fails to take action then I hope the citizens never choose to endanger their lives by choosing to fly with Dana. I certainly wouldn’t when I arrive back in Nigeria and hope to use a safe local flight for transit.
Lastly, @One random boy, this might be deemed wicked and I although I am in not place to be a judge of character, I believe you deserve it – I hope you dream of the last five minutes the various people on the airplane might have had. They knowledge that they were going to die and their screams of terror shall engulf you until you realize that this was not to be anyone’s fate; dying as a result of the carelessness of others.
May God grant their souls enternal rest and console their beloved ones in Jesus ىىName
