Uli Hoeness, the president of Bundesliga side Bayern Munich, was sentenced to a three and half year jail sentence by a German court on Thursday, March 13, 2014, for tax evasion.
Prosecutors said that he failed to pay taxes and did not meet the essential requirement, under German tax laws, designed to encourage tax evaders to come clean.
The former World Cup winning Germany Striker, Uli, admitted to defrauding German tax authorities of 27.2 million euros (£22.7m) in taxes on income earned, which was stashed in secret Swiss bank accounts.`
Hoeness , 62, bowed his head and stared at the floor when the verdict was delivered by the judge
