Not even the cheering of the Brazilian fans could help Tahiti as Uruguay pumped in goal after goal to win and make it through to the semifinals.
Abel Hernandez scored a first-half hat trick and added a penalty in the second half, while Luis Suarez scored two and Diego Perez and Nicolas Lodeiro added the others.
Uruguay will now meet host country, Brazil in the Semi-final stage.
