The one-stop end of the year treat, Livespot X Festival (LXF) may have come and gone, but the memory stays vivid on the minds of many. For 8 days, Livespot X Festival was the Festival was the centrifuge of music, games, finger foods, drinks and camaraderie as this music festival returned to the megacity.
From this festival of the season, here are ten kinds of people that showed up this year:
(1) Headliners:
They are the primary reasons why people come to the shows anyway. They are the reasons why the tickets were sold out. For Livespot X Festival 2021, headliners include Wizkid, Tems, Tiwa Savage, Psquare, DJ Spinall as well as other supporting acts like Rema, Reekado Banks, Simi, Ckay, Ladipoe, Oxlade, DJ Big N, Wurld, BlaqBonez, Victony, Jer, Kpee, Lovn, ShowDemCamp and Lady Donli.
(2) Fans-Turned-Choir:
They know the lyrics of every song by every artist back-to-back and they often chorus the lines whenever the performer gives them the chance to do so during the performance. They were the life of the concert and perhaps, the litmus test of an artist’s popularity.
(3) Social Media Junkies:
These ones may not even know the artists on the stage. They are too keen on making posts about the event to care about typographical errors or any other mistake. They do a thankless job for the PR specialists that are handling the show because you really don’t need to persuade them to make a post or use the hashtag. They create FOMO to spite their indecisive friends at home but invariably end up promoting the show.
(4) Show Snatchers:
They are not the headliners but they steal the show effortlessly. Oba and Black Camaru as well as Poco Lee and his gang graduated from being the side attraction to the centre stage feast. The world is still catching the Zazu Zeh fever from the latest ‘mad man’ on the music scene, Portable and his struggle to secure the ‘bag.’
(5) Pepper-Dem-Gang:
They slay! Designers or not, they bring on their A-game with simple casuals, trendy styles to nail the festival look.
(6) Friends-of-the-House:
They are known to the organisers; most times, they are celebrities, longtime friends and associates or even informal sponsors of the festival. They have unrestricted access to the backstage and often take pictures with the performing artists or organisers to post on social media. Overzealous bouncers have got nothing on them.
(7) Lovers’ Rock:
Livespot X Festival apparently is a great place to ignite new flames. A viral video of some young lovers surfaced online as they kissed while enjoying the music. The doors of the festival were wide open to the ‘single and searching’ who desire to find that special someone.
(8) Haters:
Believe it or not, these ones will not sit at home, they will find their way to concert venues and purchase tickets that put them so close to the stage. But then, they are on their phones throughout the show, texting-totally ignoring the headliner on stage. Some headliners fish them out like high school teachers. No time for nonsense.
(9) Paparazzi:
They see the show through their mobile phones and compete with professional photographers for shots. Not minding the quality, they ‘shoot for the stars.’ We love them to bits because they too are the life of the party.
(10) The Curious Cats:
If Forbes can make a list in recognition of people who ask questions a lot, then these individuals would make that list. They would ask you questions that you can’t answer with accuracy like, ‘When is Wizkid coming on stage?’ Don’t get provoked instead, you can pretend to be on an important call and they’ll eventually get the message.
With the 2021 Livespot X Festival now archived in our memories, Livespot360 has hinted at similar experiences for Nigerians in 2022 and have promised to keep everyone updated on their website – livespotnation.com.
