Akanbi Bamidele Brett, known by his stage name, Cheque, is a singer and rapper who rose to prominence with his 2020 single, Zoom, which has topped several music charts.
Cheque is a graduate of Chemical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University. While still a student, he began his music career in 2015 under the stage name, Kyle-B. Through his freestyle session on Instagram, he was noticed by Phyno, who signed him to Penthauze Records in February 2019. From then on, his popularity soared. Shortly after, he released three songs under the label.
In 2020, Cheque released a project titled Razor EP, which contained 5-hit tracks, one of the top five Nigerian albums on Itunes in 24 hours. One of the songs featured in the EP is Zoom which has over 2 million views on Youtube and has topped several charts. It was nominated for the City People Music Award for ‘Popular song of the Year’.
Cheque was featured in Olamide’s 2020 album titled 999 alongside other musicians. His song Zoom has been recognised as the most played Hip Hop category at the Net Honours Class of 2021.
