Chelsea and Spain striker, Diego Costa has been charged with violent conduct after stamping on Emre Can during the return leg of Chelsea vs Liverpool‘s FA Cup clash on Tuesday, January 27, 2015.
Costa, who had a similar issue with another Liverpool player, Martin Skrtel in the same match but was cleared of that incident following evidence from TV cameras.
On Wednesday, January 28, 2015, the FA released a statement saying a disciplinary action will be taken against the former Atletico Madrid striker if he is found guilty of the act.
‘Diego Costa has been charged by The FA for violent conduct following an on-field incident which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
‘The charge is in relation to an incident involving the Chelsea forward and Liverpool’s Emre Can which occurred in the 12th minute of the League Cup semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge last night,’ the statement reads.
According to reports, the prolific Chelsea goal poacher could be handed a 3-match ban for the incident. This is not the first time Costa would face criticism or punishment for an issue relating to his temperament. he was regularly in the news back in his days in Spain and was also in a bust up with Jordan Henderson, Liverpool’s stand-in captain during the first leg.
