
The 25th Confederation of African Football (CAF) awards took place on Thursday, January 5, at International Conference Centre in Abuja, Nigeria, hosted by Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo and sports presenter Mimi Fawaz.
Riyad Mahrez and Asisat Oshoala were the big winners of the night, walking away with African Player of the Year and Women’s Player of the Year award respectively.
Super Eagles and Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi was awarded Youth player of the Year, while Kelechi Iheanacho was selected as the Most Promising Talent.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons were named Women’s National Team of the Year following their 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) win in Cameroon.
The Ugandan national team, which made African Cup of Nations tournament return after 38 years were honoured as National Team of the Year.
