Upcoming rapper and performer Adekoya Adegboyega popularly known by his stage name Lineo lost his mother Olushola Adegboyega Friday, May 20, 2011.
As told to Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET), Lineo says his mother who had shown little sign of illness died in her sleep at her Ijebu-Ode residence in Ogun State. She was 61 years oLD.
He (Lineo) had paid her a visit on Monday, May 16, 2011 and travelled back to Lagos the next day. Little did he know that that was the last time he would see her.
‘It came as a shock to me because I had been there a few days ago, laughing and chatting up with her. We prayed together, I won’t forget when I looked back, and she waved bye bye’, Lineo sadly recalls.
‘She was loved by everyone, she was a mother of all, she even stood by my friend who lost his mum, I will surely miss her forever because she was 100 percent supportive of my music’, Lineo pours his heart out to Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET).
Lineo comes from a huge family; his father who died 15 years ago married 12 wives, making the young rapper one of his 40 children.
The younger rapper who dropped out of the University of Abuja to venture into music is the first Nigerian hip-hop artist to perform at New York Apollo Theater and the last artiste to have recorded a song with the late Dagrin, track titled ‘Show me the money’. He recently applied to continue at the Ogun State University where he will be studying Mass Communication.
