Nigerian singer and songwriter, Brymo, has released a surprising new album, 9, which has – as expected- generated a lot of buzz from Nigerian music enthusiasts.

The 35-year-old, widely regarded as one of Africa’s biggest indigenous pop acts, dropped his ninth studio album in the early hours of Thursday, September 9, 2021 in commemoration of his ninth wedding anniversary. The album has two sides titled Esan and Harmattan and Rain.
All songs in Esan were produced and mastered by Mikky Me Joses. While songs in Harmattan and Rain were produced and mastered by Ezenwa Bigfootinyourface Ogbonna. This comes 11 months after he responded to sexual allegations against him in an EP titled Libel which is five tracks long, with a running time of 16 minutes.

In a buildup to the album’s premiere, Brymo, who released eight albums between 2012 and 2020, described 9 as a new Phase.
“9 is completion, and entrance of a new phase… an ode to every 1, to every SIGMA, woman and man, to order!.. This is homage to karma, and to the seasons!!!” he tweeted.

In a message to fans, Brymo tried to explain his mastery of the Yoruba language in all nine tracks of Esan.
“I love to communicate clearly or at least impressively, guess it pushes me to dig deep for the right words!!!.. plus it’s my mother-tongue l!!!”, he tweeted, hours after the album had been made available to the public.
The release of 9 has been treated to positive reactions by a number of Nigeria’s music enthusiasts.
Responding to Brymo’s latest video on Harmattan and Rain, Movie Mogul, Mo Abudu defined it as beautiful.
9 is available on all streaming services. And you should expect a Netng review soon.
