President Goodluck Jonathan‘s Presidential Spokesman Reuben Abati might have been caught lying, after he posted a false picture of a troop of Nigerian soldiers ‘combing’ the Boko Haram sect in Sambisa forest, Borno State.
It is believed that the Boko Haram sect currently have a base in Sambisa Forest. Many parents of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls have also alleged that their daughters are being hidden there.
Abati wrote on his Twitter as he posted the photo; ‘Nigeria’s committed &patriotic troops ready to engage al Qaeda/terrorists of Sambisa to #BringBackOurGirls‘.
Reports however say the same photo was published on a blog beegeagle.wordpress.com back in December 2012. The soldiers in the photo were then reported to be ‘men of the 176 special forces battalion’.
No word yet from Mr Abati.
