On May 5, 2014, a short video showing Boko Haram leader Iman Shekau confirming that the Islamic sect was indeed responsible for the April 14, 2014, abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, hit the internet.
In the 36-second clip, Shekau also threatened to sell the girls into slavery, stating that Allah had instructed him to do so.
Hours later, the full recording has hit the internet. The clip, which is three minutes shy of an hour, sees Shekau boast about the Boko Haram sect having allies in Afghanistan, Mali, Yemen and Pakistan.
Shekau claims that the Nigerian government has homosexuals as some of its leaders and that discussing human rights and democracy is ‘nonsense’.
The Boko Haram leader threatened to kidnap and imprison President Goodluck Jonathan‘s daughter but spare anyone who turns to Islam.
‘I will imprison Jonathan’s daughter. Any one that turns to Islam will be saved. For me, anyone that embraces Islam is my own. Stupid Jonathan, you will be surprised. Until the land is soaked with blood,‘ Shekau threatened.
