
Hundreds of mourners have welcomed the remains of Papa Wemba, one of Africa’s best known singers, to his homeland, the Democratic Republic of Congo.
His remains was flown into the capital, Kinshasa from Ivory Coast, where he died after collapsing on stage in Abidjan.

Late Papa Wemba will be buried on Tuesday May 3, 2016 after lying in state in a stadium in Kinshasa on Monday, May 2.
Papa Wemba, who died aged 66, was considered one of Africa’s most influential musicians of his generation. He pioneered modern Congolese soukous music, which spread through the continent.
