Even though the idea that there can only be one queen of rap is a bit boring, the supposed feud between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B has been brewing for months now.
Although Cardi herself has repeatedly denied any beef between the two, Nicki Minaj has in a new interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 addressed the situation.
“The only thing that Cardi did that really hurt my feelings was the first interview after ‘Motorsport’ came out,” Nicki said. “It just really hurt me because the only thing she kept saying was, ‘I didn’t hear that verse. She changed her verse.'”
Nicki Minaj on Cardi B:

The two were in the last quarter of 2017 featured on a Migos track titled “Motorsport”. The release of motorsport was followed by a lot of controversy regarding who had a hotter verse and why Nicki didn’t appear in the same scenes in the video with her supposed rival Cardi B.
Addressing the situation, Nicki explained that she wanted to shoot the “Motorsport” video with Cardi B, but there was a scheduling conflict due to her hairdresser, who couldn’t make it on the day Cardi was shooting.
She also revealed then that she was initially told the song would be just her and Quavo (lead singer of the Migos group), but he asked her for permission to add Cardi B to the song, which she okayed.
“I kind of felt ambushed,” Nicki continued, especially after Quavo “didn’t back [her] up” on the story of how the record came about.
About a month after Motorsport was released, Cardi B did a radio interview in which she was notably awkward when asked about Nicki Minaj. In that interview, she said that when she first heard “Motorsport,” Nicki’s verse wasn’t finished, and what she heard was different from the verse that is on the final song.
