It appears that Nigerian politicians are already scheming how to stay in Nigeria’s good books at the next election cycle which is still two and a half years away. If they’re not buying fish, they’re drinking pure water.
Imo State governor Rochas Okorocha is the latest politician trying to warm his way into the hearts of the people as though he’s part of the masses, going by this photo of him riding on a commercial motorcycle in Owerri.

Here is the problem: motorcycles shouldn’t be a means of public transportation. As with everything Nigerian, it is a last resort. Most people ride on those things for lack of alternative.

Okorocha’s okada ride is ostensibly to identify with the public like ‘I’m one of you o!’ However nothing is farther from the truth. Governors have armoured SUVs that chauffeur them around all day.
But Governor Okorocha is a special breed: his stunts as the state administrator are legendary.
He once took time out of his very busy schedule to feed a baby

Like Osun’s Governor Aregbesola, he too has worn a school uniform

What is a Nigerian politician without roasted corn?

And another one

And another one

For someone who has two security vehicles following his as he rides on a bicycle, okada is a big deal

We have seen you Governor Rochas. Well done o!
