The winner of the just concluded 11th season of American Idol, Philip Phillips is to undergo urgent kidney surgery.
According to TMZ, ‘Philips, who had a long history of kidney stones, was ordered by his doctors to fix his severe health problems which had worsened since he went on American Idol‘.
The 21-year-old former pawn shop worker, who defeated 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez to emerge the winner of the contest, will spend several days in the hospital, followed by a six-week recovery period.
