This morning, Netflix announced a yet-to-be-named Nollywood drama series produced in partnership with INKBLOT PRODUCTIONS. While the production on the series is still in the early stages, here’s everything we know about it:

1. The new show is a young adult series about a gifted teen who gets a scholarship to Nigeria’s top school. This means that we will hopefully get to see many of the new-school actors and more new faces. Also, the first season of the series will contain only six episodes.
2. The only confirmed cast member on the new series is Funke Akindele aka Jenifa. They have not confirmed what role she’ll be playing just yet, but that information should be released alongside casting details.
3. The drama series will be produced by one of Nigeria’s topmost production outfits, Inkblot Productions. They have been producing Nollywood content since 2010. Some of Inkblot’s most notable productions include ‘Love Is War, The Setup, New Money, ‘Up North’, ‘Who’s The Boss’ and ‘The Wedding Party’ series.
4. Popular screenwriter, OAP, and artist, Dami Elebe has been tapped to bring her brilliance on board for the new series. She will be heading the team of writers working on bringing the story to life. Dami is the exceptional writer behind ‘Skinny Girl in Transit’, ‘The Men’s Club’ and ‘Rumour Has It’.
5. Three talented directors have teamed up to work on the new series. Chinaza Onuzo who directed ‘Who’s The Boss’; Tope Oshin, the director for ‘Up North’; and Niyi Akinmolayan who directed the blockbuster, ‘Chief Daddy’ are working together on the series. Having this team of incredible directors working together on this new project just goes to show that the show will be well-executed.
Netflix also announced that the highly anticipated Kunle Afolayan film, ‘Citation’, will launch globally on November 6. While the sequel to Kemi Adetiba’s 2018 blockbuster, ‘King of Boys’ will also premiere on Netflix in the first half of 2021.
