Nigeria’s outgoing Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Akinwunmi Adesina has been voted in as the new President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
Adesina, who will be the eight president of the AfDB, will take over from the bank’s outgoing president, Donald Kaberuka of Rwanda on September 1, 2015. The organisation announced on its Twitter account a few minutes ago.
The African Development Bank Group, which works to reduce poverty and improve living conditions on the continent, made the announcement on Twitter today, Thursday, May 28, 2015.
Adesina, an Agricultural Economics graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, is widely regarded as one of the few stellar performers in the outgoing government led by Goodluck Jonathan.
