The 2014 edition of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) began on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at TINAPA, Calabar and organisers showed their preparedness for consideration as a foremost film festival in this part of the world.
Delegates, Nollywood figures, stakeholders, and gentlemen of the press were flown in to Calabar on a chartered flight from Lagos to Calabar. And on arrival at the Calabar International Airport, the First Lady of Cross River, Obioma Liyel-Imoke, was on hand to welcome delegates to the state with the acronym: CALABAR – Come And Live And Be At Rest.
The drive down to TINAPA from the airport too was remarkable as everyone was conveyed in an open-air double-deck official AFRIFF festival bus, which had everyone on the streets of Calabar commenting and cheering.
Two major films that have, and are still making waves in Nigeria presently – Kunle Afolayan‘s October 1 and Tunde Kelani‘s Dazzling Mirage – are on show at this year’s festival and it promises to be a very entertaining, educative and memorable event for all in attendance.
