Senegal won their first game of the ongoing 2015 African Cup of Nations in dramatic fashion today, January 19, 2015.
In the match played against the Black stars of Ghana at the Estadio De Mongomo, the Lions of Teranga came from behind to shock the Ghanians 2 – 1.
Marseille’s attacking midfielder, André Ayew gave Ghana the lead at the 14th minute mark in the half of the game, only for Mame Diouf to help his country bounce back with a 58th minute strike.
Everyone would have thought it was another match headed for a stalemate like a few already in this competition until Moussa Sow sealed the victory for Senegal in the 93rd minute.
For Ghana, it is far from the result they anticipated being among bookmakers’ favourites to go far in the tournament.
With the victory, Senegal looks poised to do well in this tournament after years of not living up to the showing the golden generation comprising of the likes of Pape Bouba Diop, El Hadji Diouf, Salif Diao and others put up for the West African nation not long ago.
