The Black Stars of Ghana sealed their qualification for the quarter final stage of the 2015 African Cup of Nations on Tuesday after defeating South Africa.
In the matches played on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, Ghana eliminated South Africa from the tournament following a 2 – 1 victory while Algeria edged out Senegal from the tournament with a 2 – 0 scoreline to reach the next stage.
The Bafana Bafana took the lead after Mandla Masango scored in the 17th minute but breakthrough for Ghana came from super sub, John Boye in the 73rd minute before Andre Ayew added another goal to take it beyond South Africa 10 minutes later. For Algeria, two goals from Riyad Mahrez and Nabil Bentaleb were enough to triumph over Senegal.
Ghana topped the Group C with 6 points to qualify along with Algeria with the same number of points while Senegal and South Africa came up with 4 and 1 points respectively to crash out.
