With Super Eagles of Nigeria not partaking in the 2015 African Cup of Nations tournament after they failed to qualify, former Nigeria skipper, Austin Jay Jay Okocha has revealed his favourite teams for the competition.
Speaking with Algeria media platform, Lebuteur, the former PSG and Bolton midfielder has picked 4 countries including Algeria, Ghana, Tunisia and Ivory Coast.
‘I do expect no surprises during this Afcon [2015], as was the case in 2012 when Zambia won the trophy. For me, the favourites are Algeria, Ghana, Tunisia and Ivory Coast, who for some time now have always been tipped to win the AFCON.’
He also said he couldn’t figure out why the Ivorians, who are always tipped to win the trophy, keep missing out.
‘The Ivorians have a team of talented players. I do not understand how they keep missing [the trophy] every time. Maybe 2015 will be good for them,’
Th Tournament will kick off Saturday, January 17, 2014 and end on Sunday, February 8, 2015 in Equatorial Guinea.
