Fans of UFC great, Israel Adesanya, have blamed his loss to Du Plessis at UFC 305 on Referee, Marc Goddard. Adesanya lost to his South African foe in the early hours of Sunday at the UFC 305 in Australia.
Fans have now attributed the loss to the matchday referee, Marc Goddard. The fans took to the social media platform, X, to note a consistent occurrence with the Nigerian-New Zealand mixed martial artist each time Goddard takes charge of his fights.
It will be recalled that Marc Goddard was the official in charge of Adesanya’s fights with Alex Pereira, Sean Strickland and now Dricus Du Plessis. The fighter has, astonishingly, gone on to lose all three of those fights!
“Crazy stat actually. The Goddard curse lol,” X user, @mmasouthafrican wrote.
“Next time he challenges for the title and Goddard is the referee, he loses by DQ lmao,” @itsdeisl stated.

“Marc Goddard Octagon movement was in Izzy’s way,” @zmfr15 pointed out.
X user, @krypt0naira, went as far as labelling the Umpire, “the devil.”
The highly anticipated clash ended with Adesanya succumbing to a 4th round submission loss to the South African. ‘Izzy’ had been absent from the Octagon for 11 months before his fight with Du Plessis.
His last outing before now was his shock loss to Strickland in September last year.
