First Up, The UEFA Euros Final: We’ve witnessed one of the most interesting European tournaments yet over the past one month with the Euros. It served up upsets, surprises, heart-stopping moments and excitement but the competition has reached the decisive stage now and only one winner will be crowned on Sunday. The final is between the Italians who have captured the hearts of many with not only their impressive style of play but also with how passionately they sing their national anthem before kickoff (Trust us, you need to watch the Italians sing their anthem! It’s wholesome content) and the English who are of the opinion that Football “Is coming home”. The last time the English won a major tournament was at the world cup in 1966. They are overdue for a trophy, don’t you think? They must, however, overcome a spirited and experienced Italian side. The NBA Finals: Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks were not favorites to win the world championship this season but they’ve both made it to the finals. Phoenix led by talisman; Chris Paul has won 2 games in the series already and a Giannis Antetokounmpo led Bucks will have to claw their way back into the series if they are serious about their NBA title ambitions. This is an interesting matchup that you shouldn’t miss. The game is live on ESPN 2 on DStv by 1am on July 12th.
Dear Old Wimbledon: World number one, Ashleigh Barty of Australia and eighth seed Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic will face off in a classic Women final at Wimbledon on Saturday, the interesting thing about this matchup is that both players are not the usual suspects for the Wimbledon final but they are here and it promises to be a scintillating clash. In the men’s category, Novak Djokovic will look to add to his grand slam titles in order to close the gap between him and rivals; Roger Federer and Raphael Nadal. Can he do it? Find out this weekend on Super Sport Tennis (DStv channel 214).
Nigeria Idol Finale: If you’ve been following the show, you’d know that the showdown between Francis and Kingdom is not something you want to miss. Both contestants have been amazing all season, but there can only be one winner who will go home with a recording deal of a six track EP, and over 50 million Naira worth of prizes which include a N30 million cash prize and a brand new SUV. Who will be the Nigerian Idol? Find out this Sunday at 7pm on Africa Magic Urban (DStv channel 153) and Africa Magic Family (DStv channel 154).
