Positive reactions have trailed the announcement of Feyikemi Abudu as the winner of the Most Searched Person category at the NET Honours People’s Choice Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious audience data-based awards.
The 28-year old social media influencer, media personality, and business consultant, popularly known as FK Abudu, bagged her first-ever NET Honours win, triumphing in a category that also included some of today’s most-talked-about personalities: Burna Boy’s manager and mum Bose Ogulu, fashion influencer and actress Temi Otedola, UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya, human rights advocate and community organiser Rinu Oduala, and social media influencer Natacha Akide.
Abudu worked closely with the Feminist Coalition (FemCO) to distribute food and logistics during the October 2020 #EndSARS protests. She also worked hard to secure the release of protesters unlawfully arrested during the peaceful demonstrations.
Fans of Abudu, who fondly refer to her as “president” on Twitter, flooded Netng’s Twitter feed to extend their congratulations.
“A president and more”, Mildred, an Atlanta-based fashion designer, tweeted in response to the announcement.
Eniafe Momodu, a journalist and content creator, was also visibly excited by the news of Abudu’s win.
“An icon and a legend. No choice but to stan”, he tweeted.
Ebele, a feminist and media enthusiast, reacted to the announcement with the statement, “my able leader!”
Abudu herself acknowledged her first-ever NET Honours win, reacting hilariously.
“Best in Podcast”, she wrote, referring to the popular millennial-focused podcast I Said What I Said, which she co-hosts with friend and business partner Jola Ayeye.
Data for NET Honours was sourced from a comprehensive database of over eight million users who engaged with Netng, Neusroom, Orin and 234Star platforms via the websites, social media accounts, and related platforms within the period from June 2020 to May 2021.
