Ghanaian actress and film maker, Lyndia Forson who is one of the finest actresses in Ghana, has become one of the most talked about celebrity after producing her first movie A Letter to Adam, which got selected for the 23rd Pan African Film Festival in UK.
The actress who believes in quality scripts, made her acting debut in the movie Hotel St.James in 2005 and has since then acted in several movies which landed her the award for the Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2010.
In a recent chat with the actress , she spoke to NET about her first produced movie, comparing Nollywood to Ghanaian movies and more.
1. How did you start producing movie?
I think it’s a natural progression, when you really really get the act of story telling, automatically as some point you want to tell stories that you believe in, you know when you are an actor you always do movies based on the actors attached, when you are a producer, you get to choose the appropriate story to want to tell as well as a writer to write the stories you want to tell.
2.How do you combine acting and producing movies?
Its difficult and fun at the same time, because i get to part of every aspect of telling a story, you know I’m am a story teller, I just like bringing a story to life, so being actor, producer as-well as a writer is not really a big deal.
3.What was the reception like after producing your first movie ‘Letter from Adam’?
It has been good, the movie was selected for the 23rd Pan African Film Festival in UK, it had three AMVCA nominations even if it didn’t win but for my first movie to be nominated I think it just propels me to want to do better.
4. How would you rate Nigerian movies compared to Ghanaian movies?
I don’t like to compare them together, because I feel we are united and we are all trying to tell stories together, Ghana and Nigeria has become a force and gradually we are breaking records.
5.What is your most challenging movie you have acted?
Its hard, I think every movie is hard, probably my first produced movie, because I wasn’t acting as an actor, I was the writer and producer looking for locations, I really put a lot into it, it’s probably the most challenging movie.
