Nigeria’s biggest music talent show, Nigerian Idol, seventh season was a long but entertaining one. Even those who had not qualified to be on the show, through their audition, added a different kind of spice to it.
However, after 75 people earned golden tickets to the show and several challenging singing competitions eliminated them down to 2 persons [Zadok Aghalengbe and Progress Chukwuyem], the winner of the music talent show was to be announced Sunday, May 22, 2022.
With thousands of people anxious to see their favourite singer win, many stayed glued to their TV screens watching the show while hundreds of people gathered live at HS Studios, Ikeja, Lagos, to witness it.
Although the day’s theme was to announce the next Nigerian Idol, the organisers of the life changing talent show gave the audience a night to remember.

The Aghalengbe’s and Chukwuyem’s Emotional Family Time
Earlier in the night, Progress Chukwuyem performed Araina Grande, Jesse J, and Nicki Minaj’s song: “Bang Bang”. As usual, the talented singer entertained the audience with his magical voice and charming dance steps.
After the performance, TV Host Ikponmwosa “IK” Osakioduwa, invited Progress’ father to the stage for comments on his son’s performance.
Progress’ father, at a loss forwords, was visibly stunned. He explained that he is confident his name, Progress, contributes to his musical talent and success on the Nigerian Idol show.
After Zadok Aghalengbe’s magical performance of Whitney Houston’s song, I Wanna Dance with Somebody; his mother also joined him on the show. At the stage, Zadok planted a kiss on his mother’s forehead. In a similar sweet manner, his mother expressed her pride in him for reaching the final stage at Nigerian Idol. She further said a word of prayer for him.
The family time was a delightful reminder of the importance of family love and support.
Kingdom Kroseide, Nigerian Idol Season 6 Winner, and top 10 Season 7 finalists outstanding music performance
Coordinated in a monochrome outfit, Nigerian Idol season 7 finalists sang along with Kingdom Kroseide, Nigerian Idol Season 6 Winner, who was adorned in an all-white outfit.
The group performance from the rising stars for the night was magical as the audience was mesmerised by their powerful song rendition.
D’banj’s, Simi’s, and Pheelz’s enthralling performances on stage
Nigerians love a good time, especially when they witness the performance of a song they can sing along with.
Of course, the pop superstars knew that as each pulled out fans’ favourites from their music albums and gave a captivating performance.
Simisola “Simi” Ogunleye, a judge on the show, performed Duduke, her mid-tempo pop record that had an Afrobeats vibe. Dapo “D’banj” Daniel Oyebanjo sang “Emergency”, a dupe track from his album “King Don Come”, while Phillip “Pheelz” Kayode Moses excitedly rendered his hit song ‘Finesse’ live on stage.
The audience, clearly entertained, was delighted as they sang along with the pop stars.

IK Osadikowa can sing! In case anyone was in doubt, the host extraordinaire boasts of his musical talent at the Nigerian Idol season 7 finale as he rendered a few lines of the hit song Bang Bang. The audience, pleasantly surprised, screamed in excitement at the live show.
There is more to IK Osadikowa than looking handsome and presenting live shows, and he brilliantly revealed that on Sunday, May 22, 2022, night.
The glorious moment Progress Chukwuyem was announced as the next Nigerian Idol
With over 220 million votes for the Nigerian Idol season 7 and over 45 million record-breaking votes in the third week of May 2022, the night many music fans had been waiting for had finally arrived.
On the stage were Zadok Aghalengbe and Progress Chukwuyem standing next to each other in a similar outfit, a shimmering gold and black suit with a pair of pants.
The show host, IK, dragged out naming the winner for a few minutes and when he finally announced Progress Chukwuyem as the winner, the crowd at the live studio let out an exciting roar.
Everything happened instantly: a standing ovation, clapping, and shimmers on the winner. It was magical. Most of the fans at the studio were also in agreement that Progress deserved to win.
In a magical performance, Progress performed one last time, Send me an Angel by Scorpions, on the Nigerian Idol stage. He also thanked everyone who had been a part of his success at the show.
