Many football watchers had thought the Golden Eaglets winning the World Cup would boost Nigeria’s standing in the list, but it wasn’t enough to halt the slide.
Belgium maintained it world dominance sitting in the top spot while Argentina is ranked second. Other top 5 nations are Spain, Germany and Chile.
Nigeria gradually declined in status on the table after ranking 43 in January and kept moving down until it found itself in the current 66th spot.
The next FIFA world ranking will be published on January 7 next year and we pray Nigeria climbs higher on the list. Amen?
