Think you’re the most knowledgeable person when it comes to boobs and nipples? Think again. From the scientific to downright bizarre, here are a few things you probably didn’t know about nipples.
1. You have one of eight different types of nipples

They are the protruding, flat, puffy, bumpy, hairy, inverted, unilateral inverted and supernumerary.
2. Men have nipples because all fetuses start off as females

Yep, everyone was a woman at some point while in the womb.
3. The little bumps on your areola are called areolar glands, or the Glands of Montgomery
They are there to keep your areola and nipples protected.
4. Your nipples can have orgasms
Seriously, some people actually have orgasms from nipple stimulation alone.
5. Almost everyone has some hair on theirs
While some have more than others, it has been proven that most humans have at least a little hair than others in their nipple area.
6. Both nipples don’t always look alike
Since both breasts are not always identical, it’s equally possible that both nipples could be different in looks.
7. They can change colours
Some women’s nipples get darker when they’re getting older or pregnant, so it’s pretty normal.
8. Nipple piercings take months to heal
If you get a piercing, you shouldn’t immediately let anyone play with or lick your nipples as this could lead to an infection.
9. Running long distances could hurt your nipples sometimes
This is as a result of the shirt you have on at the time, which causes them to bleed. So you might want to apply some vaseline or tape over them before running marathons or not run at all.
10. Your nipples can sometimes leak fluid even when you’re not pregnant or breastfeeding
This can be pretty normal and might sometimes be a big sign of trouble, especially when it happens randomly without any sort of nipple stimulation.
