While Adele was sweeping the major awards and a pregnant Beyonce was queening with her performance, a few notable names remained expectant of their moment in the spotlight.
Sadly, that moment didn’t come for them although, some clearly were not bothered by it as you’ll see below.
Rihanna
She lost out in the Record of the Year to Adele, in the Best R&B Performance category to Beyonce’s sister, Solange, as well as in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category lost to Twenty One Pilots.
Oh, she also remained in her seat while Beyonce received the Best Urban Contemporary Album award for Lemonade, while Drake, who was in Manchester, UK, was awarded the Best Rap/Sung Performance gong.

But, she had some liquid courage to the rescue
Justin Bieber
The god of Beliebers may have lost out in the Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance categories, but he probably already saw it coming.
The Biebs was among the artistes who decided to be elsewhere but at Staples Center
Kanye West
Along with Bieber, Kanye was also not feeling the Grammy vibes this year.
Turns out the awards were not feeling his either, as he lost out to Chance the Rapper in the Best Rap Album category.
Trust some weirdness to prop up in matters of Kanye though. He was nominated twice in the Best Rap/Sung Performance category and still got no win.
He was also nominated twice in the Best Rap Song category but lost out to Drake there.
DJ Khaled
Appears the organisers weren’t sold by the gospel of Khaled’s Major Key as they handed the award in the one category he was nominated, Best Rap Album, to Chance.
It’s all good though.
Enya
Best New Age Album for Dark Sky Island lost to White Sun
Ladysmith Black Mambazo
The legendary South African group fell short in the Best World Music Album category, with Yo-Yo Ma & The Silk Road Ensemble taking home the prize.
Mike Posner
‘I Took A Pill in Ibiza’ was a hit but it lost out to (admittedly) a deserving ‘Hello’ by Adele.
Coldplay
The superstar group wouldn’t mind that they lost the Best Music Video award category to Beyonce’s ‘Formation’.
Bob Dylan
The man who turned down a Nobel Prize last year lost in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category to Willie Nelson.
Desiigner
The Future-sounding artiste fell short in the Best Rap Performance for ‘Panda’ to Chance the Rapper.
Others who lost out were Fat Joe who lost in two categories, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood who were beaten by Maren Morris in the Best Country Solo Performance category and Nigerian singer Kah-Lo who was nominated in the Best Dance Recording category as a featured artiste.
